Moveable feasts, also known as movable celebrations, are holidays that do not fall on the same calendar date each year. They are typically based on the cycles of the moon or the sun, and their dates are determined using a complex system of calculations.
- Religious moveable feasts are most common in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. They often commemorate important events in the lives of religious figures or celebrate key points in the religious calendar. Some examples of religious moveable feasts include Easter, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Eid al-Fitr.
- Non-religious moveable feasts can be based on a variety of factors, such as the solstices and equinoxes, historical events, or cultural traditions. Some examples of non-religious moveable feasts include Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Arbor Day.
