“What we see before us is just one tiny part of the world. We get in the habit of thinking, this is the world, but that’s not true at all. The real world is a much darker and deeper place than this, and much of it is occupied by jellyfish and things We just happen to to forget all that. Don’t you agree? Two-thirds of earth’s surface is ocean, and all we can see with the naked eye is the surface: the skin.”

Short Story

The Lost Ship of the Moon Jellyfish

The sun was setting on the horizon, casting a beautiful orange hue across the vast expanse of the sea. The waves were calm and the air was still, but something was amiss. A large, abandoned ship was slowly drifting in the distance, surrounded by a strange, luminescent glow.

As the ship drew closer, it became clear that the glow was coming from thousands of moon jellyfish that had gathered around the vessel. The jellyfish were a deep blue color, and their tentacles glowed in the fading light of the day.

The ship was old and decrepit, its sails tattered and its hull covered in barnacles. It had clearly been abandoned for some time, but there was something strangely captivating about it.

The captain of the small boat that had been observing the ship from a distance decided to investigate further. He and his crew cautiously approached the vessel, and as they drew nearer, they noticed something strange.

The moon jellyfish seemed to be protecting the ship, forming a barrier around it that kept the crew from getting too close. The captain and his crew were mesmerized by the sight, and they decided to stay and observe the strange phenomenon.

As the night grew darker, the jellyfish began to glow brighter. The captain and his crew watched in awe as the jellyfish seemed to be communicating with each other, their tentacles glowing in a mesmerizing pattern.

Suddenly, the captain noticed something else. A small figure was standing on the deck of the ship, illuminated by the light of the jellyfish. It was a young girl, no more than ten years old.

The captain and his crew were shocked, but the girl seemed unafraid. She simply smiled and waved at them, and the captain realized that she must have been living on the ship for some time.

The captain and his crew decided to take the girl back to shore, but as they were about to leave, the jellyfish began to move. They formed a circle around the ship, and the captain realized that they were protecting the girl.

The captain and his crew were amazed, and they decided to leave the girl on the ship. They knew that she would be safe with the jellyfish, and they left with a newfound respect for the mysterious creatures of the sea.

The girl stayed on the ship for many years, and the jellyfish continued to protect her. Eventually, she grew into a young woman, and she was able to make a living by selling the jellyfish’s glowing tentacles to sailors who wanted to use them as a source of light.

The girl eventually left the ship, but the jellyfish stayed, protecting it from the ravages of time. To this day, the ship remains, surrounded by the mysterious moon jellyfish, a reminder of the power of nature and the beauty of the sea.
